Do We Really Understand?

The disciples had forgotten to bring bread, except for one loaf they had with them in the boat. “Be careful,” Jesus warned them. “Watch out for the yeast of the Pharisees and that of Herod.” They discussed this with one another and said, “It is because we have no bread.” Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked them: “Why are you talking about having no bread? Do you still not see or understand? Are your hearts hardened? Do you have eyes but fail to see, and ears but fail to hear? And don’t you remember? When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?” “Twelve,” they replied. “And when I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many basketfuls of pieces did you pick up?” They answered, “Seven.” He said to them, “Do you still not understand?” (‭Mark‬ ‭8‬:‭14-21‬ NIV)

How much am I missing?

I read passages of scripture like this, and I often wonder what am I missing?  If the disciples who were walking with Jesus were missing very obvious stuff, what makes me think I am not missing anything?  The fact is because I am so busy, because I am spread out, because of all of the hats I wear, and because I am human.  I know I am missing stuff.  The questions is how do I change that?

1. Slow down

2. Be intentional to ask for the Holy Spirit’s help.

3. Care

4. Be intentional to process as if it matters

5. Let Psalms 119:105 be true in my life-Your Word is lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

If I will not be so mission minded, and choose to be missional minded I have a much better chance of getting there.  The choice is mine!

Lord, help me to get there.  Help me to see what I am supposed to be.  Help me to slow down, and allow the Holy Spirit to help me see with Your eyes.  I don’t want to miss opportunities to be obedient because I am too busy.  I don’t want to miss opportunities to love Your people because I have to be some where.  The truth is I get there way to easy. I know I need Your help.
