Is It Enough That The Lord Has Called You?

2Now the Jews’ Feast of Tabernacles was at hand. 3His brothers therefore said to Him, “Depart from here and go into Judea, that Your disciples also may see the works that You are doing. 4For no one does anything in secret while he himself seeks to be known openly. If You do these things, show Yourself to the world.” 5For even His brothers did not believe in Him. (John 7:2-5 NKJV)

Has the Lord called you?  Then that should be enough!

Even Jesus, The Messiah, The Son of the Living God, had His own family not believing in Him.   Jesus knew what He was supposed to be doing.  Jesus knew what He was called to do.  He was not going to let anyone, including His own family, pressure Him into doing something He wasn’t supposed to do.

Often times, we hear the voice of the Lord.  It is clear and  it is direct.  We know, that we know, that we know it was Him talking to us.  Then we share with family and friends, and they give us a crossed eyed look.  They begin to question, poke holes, and share with you all the reasons why shouldn’t do the very thing God was calling you to do.

What is the answer?  You need to have trusted mentors, friends, and family who believe in God.  When you hear the call of the Lord you should be able to share with them what He said, and listen to their advice.   You measure their advice, and what you believe you are hearing against scripture.  Then you must act in obedience to what God says.  We have the Holy Spirit living in us giving us peace as we act in obedience.

Here is the very real truth.  He may ask you to walk on water.  He may ask you to feed the five thousand.  He may even ask you to die.  I don’t think you will have positive advice from friends and family when He asks you to do this.  Certainly the disciples struggled with obedience and faith when it was asked of them.  It is in those moments when you will have to muscle up, faith up, and act in spite of what others might be saying.  Faith is what pleases the Lord.  Faith is what the Lord is asking of you.

It made sense for Jesus to go up to the feast.  It made sense for Jesus to go to Judea.  It still wasn’t what He was called to do.  When it comes to obedience Crystal’s “Triple A” plan is the answer.

1. Be aware what He asking you to do.

2. Ask what you should do with what you are hearing.

3. Act in obedience, regardless of what anyone else is telling you.
